About Paolo Scardina

Paolo Scardina, award winning residential designer, brings nearly four decades of experience to the practice of building design and interior design.  He artfully integrates these two disciplines so your home will work for you inside and out.  He thinks of residential design as "a blending of art and science for the sake of a quality lifestyle".  With a keen sense of listening, he discovers how to give each client a home that truly fits the how they want to live.

After nearly 700 projects large and small, he guides his clients through each phase of design helping them make all the important decisions about flow, function, character, style, building materials and products.  He is mindful of the cost of construction and coaches his clients accordingly.  He is masterful with 3D modeling and easily finds beautiful, inspiring designs to share with his clients.

Before starting his own practice in 1990, he served as the director of interior design for eight years with Ostgren Associates in San Francisco, California.  He began there as a low-paid librarian and advanced to the position of “Director of Projects”.  When the opportunity to start his own practice was presented in Portland, OR, he leaped forward as an entrepreneur!

Mr. Scardina's qualifications include the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) as a professional interior designer.  He also holds a Bachelor of Interior Design degree from Western Design Institute, San Francisco, California; a Master of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University, Kent Ohio; and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio.  He is also a professional member in good standing and past president of the (1998-1999) Oregon Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).
